🧪 What is the Ferritin Self Test?
The test measures the amount of ferritin in capillary blood, a protein that stores iron in the body.
It is the main indicator of iron reserves and is used to identify:
Iron deficiency / iron deficiency anemia
Iron overload (rarer)
Chronic conditions (inflammatory diseases, celiac disease, heavy menstrual bleeding)

People with symptoms such as:
Chronic fatigue
Brittle nails, paleness, dizziness
Shortness of breath under stress
Hair loss
Women of childbearing age (heavy menstrual bleeding)

📋 How the Test Works
Disinfect your fingertip with the included wipe.
Use the sterile lancet to obtain a drop of blood.
Collect the blood with the pipette or put it directly into the test cassette.
Add the diluent/reagent.
Read the result after about 10–15 minutes.
📊 Interpretation of Results
Result Meaning
✅ 1 single line (control) Valid test – normal ferritin level
⚠️ 2 lines (control + test) Low ferritin → possible iron deficiency
❌ No line Invalid test → repeat
🎯 Some tests indicate if the value is below the threshold of 30 ng/mL (indicative value of deficiency in rapid tests).
✅ Advantages
Convenient, fast and discreet.
It can avoid unnecessary tests or confirm suspicions of deficiency.
Useful for periodic monitoring if you are already taking iron supplements.
⚠️ Test Limitations
It provides a qualitative result, not a precise numerical value (except in tests with laboratory submission).
It does not replace a complete blood count, iron, transferrin and ferritin test for a certain diagnosis.
Inflammatory factors can artificially increase ferritin → false negatives.
🔄 What to Do After the Test
If positive for deficiency → consult your doctor for confirmation with a blood test and possible iron supplementation.
If negative, but you have symptoms → still consider further clinical evaluation.
